Charlesâs Starter
Charlesâs Law: V1/T1 = V2/T2 (Pressure stays constant)
1) Formula (The Prediction)
Use Charlesâs Law when pressure stays constant:
V1 / T1 = V2 / T2
- To solve for a Theoretical V2: V2 = V1 Ă (T2 / T1)
2) Temperature Rule (Always Kelvin)
Even if the lab gives temperatures in °C, you must convert:
K = °C + 273
- Convert T1 and T2 to Kelvin before plugging into the formula.
3) Theoretical vs Experimental
- Theoretical V2 = what you predict using math (Charlesâs Law).
- Experimental V2 = what you actually measured in the lab.
- Your job: compute the difference: |V2(theory) â V2(exp)|
5 questions total. Each question: calculate Theoretical V2 using Kelvin, then compare to the labâs Experimental V2, and enter the volume difference (in mL). Score appears only at the end.
